Let's talk about some common misconceptions about sex coaches and what we do.

  1. Sex coaches have sex and touch their clients inappropriately to help them. FALSE. There are clear boundaries between Sex Coaches and their clients. When you hear "coach", you may imagine someone on the sidelines watching you, yelling at you and telling you what to do. Well, that's not exactly what Sex Coaches are like. Are we rooting for you and cheering you on? Absolutely! Sex Coaches do not, however, have sex with our clients or watch them having sex. Although the Somatica Method does offer both talk and experiential practices there are still strict boundaries in place.

  2. Sex Therapists and Sex Coaches are the same thing. FALSE. Sex Coaches are NOT Therapists. Some clients choose between the two, some choose to go to both a therapist and a coach. Why? Because Sex Coaches and Sex therapists offer different services and help clients in different ways. Sex Coaching is goal-oriented and Coaches work with their client to define goals create a plan together to achieve those goals. Clients also see a Sex Coach to collaboratively identify and create a plan to overcome those obstacles.

  3. My problems are not big or serious enough to see a sex coach. FALSE. Sex is not something that can be perfected and never having to think about how to get better ever again. In that sense, it is like a sports coach. Who seeks tennis coaches? People who have never played tennis, people who want to understand the sport, beginners, amateurs, professionals, connoisseur and even other coaches. It is the same concept with Sex Coaches.

Aude.
